It has been quite some time since we had our B rigs out - at least at the Dam, but there was a good and windy Northerly for today’s handicap racing. There was even some talk beforehand about C-rigs but by the time we started things had settled a little and the B-rig was the choice of all but John Penman who tried the C but struggled for horsepower for the whole morning session. After lunch John suited up with his ‘B’and came out and won two races back-to-back.
Wayne Behrens had some boat issues today but stayed to do PRO duties after lunch which helped us to complete 12 races today. Thanks Buzzy. The heavy conditions did result in a fair attrition rate and of 11 starters there were only 4 who completed all races. Perhaps it is not surprising that three of those skippers filled the overall podium today. John Hall took out third place. It was very hard to catch John today with his boat sailing very fast especially downwind. I took out second in a welcome return to some form after a string of lean weeks. Dave Woolley won the day with a count back tipping the decision in his favour. Dave stormed home finishing the afternoon with strong placings in the last three races. Next Wednesday, being the last of the month, will be another Super-Wednesday. This time we will have a normal but shortened IOM handicap series in the morning (10:30 - 12:30) and then some short-course scratch racing in the afternoon (1:00 - 3:00). That should make for a great day! All the best to the team, (Lisa, Kyle, Rod and Dicko) who are heading to New South Wales for the A-Class National Championships. Have a great time and race well! Coming up: Sunday: IOM Scratch racing at Montrose (1:00 button press) Next Wednesday: IOM Super-Wednesday at Risdon Brook dam. (10:30 button press) Shorty
