With the cool and blustery Northerly of about 20 knots and the DF’s out in force you could have easily thought it was the Show Day Showdown! It was a day for those with C rigs to get them out of the box. Those who did not have them were found sorely wanting them. All props to Nick Connor and Al Short for toiling all day with an overpowered B rig.
Thanks to our officials Andrew Wardrop, Rod Marshall and Phil Jackman for keeping the racing happening in the trying conditions. All up a 12 race event was a pretty good effort considering the wind. Both Buzzy Behrens and myself made the mistake of doing well in the first few races - inflating our handicap for the rest of the day. John Hall enjoyed the windy conditions by finishing in third place overall. He was the best of the ‘Colts’ today. Lisa Blackwood sailed well and finished in second place after missing races to undertake rig changes. It was John Penman’s day though with three race wins amongst six podium finishes and a clear points victory. Well sailed Lisa and the John’s!
