RISDON BROOK YACHT CLUB

The RBYC has  been in existence for fourty years sailing the 1 Metre & Marblehead classes. The club meets every Sunday & Wednesday. On Sundays the 10M & Marbleheads alternate for scratch & handicap racing & Wednesdays are open to both classes. Racing commences at 11 am & usually completed by 3.30 pm
During the summer months the 10M class runs a sprint series on the mornings of the Marblehead race days. Racing is short and sharp with racing commencing at 10 am & finishing about 12.30 pm,  a great way to improve starting & racing skills.

Important Notice relating to the Sailing Roster commencing the 1st of July 2012. All Sunday races except ranking events during winter(non daylight saving) will commence at 10am & finish at 1pm. Summer racing(daylight saving) will commence at 2pm & finish at 5pm. Ranking event starting & finishing times will be notified by way of seperate Notice of Race  Please see the drop down box above for the Racing Schedule.

INTERNATIONAL ONE METRE CLASS (IOM)

The International One Metre Class (IOM) is the smallest and newest International radio sailing class and has a strong International following. The recently formed International One Metre - International Class Association has taken over responsibility for management of the class and Australia was the first National Class Association recognised by the International body.
The class rules are very tight with three one design rigs permitted and restrictions on construction materials, overall and ballast weight, and draft. There is a maximum overall length of one metre and a minimum weight of 4 Kg.  These rules are aimed at controlling costs and enabling the amateur builder to produce a competitive yacht.
The IOM is sailed in all Australian States and is Australia’s fastest growing class with over 500 boats registered. 

Marblehead 

A Marblehead yacht is about 1.29 metres in length with a 2 metre mast carrying just over 1/2 square metre of sai. They are are fast & sophisticated class with the hulls & masts constructed of carbon fibre.  Sails are usually made of Mylar film & the yachts carry electrically driven winch & steering
