International Marblehead - Race Report
New Zealander Paul Johnson (04) has stolen the march and produced his IOM race report before I have finalised our one. It's a great read! Thanks for coming Paul (and the other NZ skippers) and thanks for the positive feedback.

Brilliant, it could only happen in Hobart - pontoon in place! 8th February 2018
We all have to dip our ‘lids’ to John Cole-Cook to have achieved what occurred yesterday. John has been able to source the pontoon and the gangway for the duration of the 2018 ARYA Nationals thanks to TMC, TAS Marine Constructions.
Add to that Cookie’s vision, determination and mates, master mariner skills and a huge box of thimbles, shackles, chain, crowbar, lines, stilsons, 4 car tyres, carpet to protect our knees (and boats)…... and nous! It has happened - a 7 x 3 metre pontoon is now anchored off the rowing club’s idle access facility.
Our gratitude is also extended kindly to Tom Wilcox from Tas Marine Constructions and the crew from CleanLift Marine.
Local council workers have been working all week to fix the unsafe foreshore edge, seen pouring the last of the concrete in the pic.

Alternative route to venue at morning peak hour - recommended. 25th January 2018
The steps are installed at last. 24th January 2018
If you have 12 months to listen to all the background required to successfully achieve having these steps installed in time for the 2018 Nats, have a yarn to Rod Marshall or Andrew Wardrop. There has been some serious 'ruler gnawing' I can tell you! Three weeks out from the event was cutting it fine.
The local Council had promised that a floating pontoon would be installed by November 2016, and it was on that understanding that the Montrose Bay venue was decided upon as a superb location for the 2018 Nationals in Hobart. The recent involvement with Council staff has been very positive and their approach to deliver on Council's guarantee has been excellent; we thank you. Rod and Andrew's joint dogged persistence to achieve the steps installation are to be applauded.
The new steps open up the whole of Elwick Bay for our ARYA Nationals radio yachting event and a great future affiliation with Montrose Bay Yacht Club.
