IOM and DF95 Handicap.
DF95 Twilight at Montrose.
DF95 Invitational Regatta.
February Long Distance.
6 IOM's & 3 DF95's fronted for the handicap series. The breeze started off from the north in upper end of A rig & then into B rig as the racing progressed. Course was start between 1 & 2 to 6 to 5 through the gate to the finish (1 & 2) with the last race being a long distance race.
At the end of 6 races the IOMs was won by myself from Ray & Kim & in the DF95's Peter Sylvester was the winner by 1 point from Tony with Wayne third. PRO was John Smith ably assisted by Peter Germein - many thanks. Next Sunday is IOM Handicap & DF95 Scratch at 1.00pm Andrew Results for the Marblehead Summer Series Round 4. Variable conditions with A Rig norwesterlies at first strengthening to B/C Rig for a while before moderating again ahead of a cool southerly change for the last couple of races. We tried something new by alternating between scratch and handicap starts, and rumour has it that a new F4 from the Red Ant stables is on order for a new skipper to the fleet. Also a big belated congratulations to Bruce Rose who won the 2017 Paper Tiger Australian Championships held in NSW recently. Well done Bruce! Finally, best of luck to IOM skippers Michael Hickman and Rod Jackman who will be representing the club and Tassie in the ARYA Nationals at Kogarah Bay SC over the next two weeks.
Another solid fleet of 12 boats at Montrose. Despite the conditions being a little variable, the tide was up and an enjoyable afternoon's sailing was had by all. A special thankyou to Martin Grose from MBYC who kindly filled in for Rod Marshall as PRO for the afternoon. Congratulations to Cliff Eaves who won the day in a closely contested series of alternating scratch and handicap races. Believe it or not, we have been sailing at Montrose now for over 4 months! How time flies.
