Eleven sailors made it to MBYC today to contest in the last Sunday sail for 2020.
Great to see an eclectic mix of yachts, with IOM's RM's, an "A" and a 10R all representing. Still to light conditions for most of the day, with a rain squall coming through right on the lunch break, which was gone by the time we resumed. Spotting the small wind shifts and ebbs was the order of the day, with most of us on both sides of the coin at different stages of the day. Hero to zero moments occurring in many races. Pro, Les Hanson had the handicaps nicely tuned, with the main grouping of yachts finishing within 20m of each other through many of the races. In the end, Lisa Blackwood's Blade was too good for the rest of us. A very consistent performance. Second place was taken out by John Hall, who showed excellent speed and decision making throughout. Peter Darcey took third place today, with his V10 sailing very well. Showing how close things were, positions 4-7 covered just 4 points. After sailing, many of today's sailors joined some of our members who couldn't make it to sailing today, along with their wives and partners for a christmas meal at nearby Riverfront Motel Restaurant. The 18 people enjoyed a fantastic meal, some laughs and a great time by all. It was especially great to see so many wives and partners come along as well. Hopefully, we will have some more functions like this in the future. As mentioned above, the Sunday sailing is now finished for 2020, with a resumption on January 10th January. Wednesday sailing is still on so long as members want it. 23rd December and 30th December is currently scheduled and we look forward to seeing you there.
