Securing a win for the day with drops of 7 and 8 in a fleet of 14 in a handicap event by Andrew Wardrop has shown what consistency can do for you. A nice birthday present for you. Well sailed. Ray Joyce had his Britpop running very well as well, chasing hot on Andrews heels, just three points behind, with yours truly and John Hall just one point further back.
A really enjoyable day at the dam, with a light breeze throughout most of the event. There was a BBQ provided and an informal general meeting, which will be repeated during the Long Distance events. Some good communication both ways in regards to the roster, the upcoming brainstorming session, with some discussion points to be brought to the committee for further discussion. The main point being the no-sail day on the brainstorming session – 17th June, and the general sentiment against not sailing on the day. We will email the resolution of this as soon as possible for all members to hear. Thanks to the helpers who turned up early today for setup, as well as those who hung around for a few extra minutes to pack everything away and lock up. Also, thanks to Wayne Behrens and Rod Jackman, who helped Geoff set up his Panko from it’s somewhat dodgy tuning at the start of the day (sorry Geoff). Not sure Geoff was too happy once he sailed a few races after the “Behrens tune”, with the handicapping hurting after a 3rd and 1st after the tune up. With the experienced guys so willing to help others out, it will surely keep the newer sailors at the club enjoying their sailing. As per the constitution, memberships are due by 5th June, so please get your subs in as soon as possible. As a reminder, they are unchanged this year, still at $60. https://mysailingresults.com/results_embed.asp?eventid=321
