While there was a consistent North Easter on the Derwent not much of it came through to the Dam and we struggled with swirling light breezes from around the compass.
Top effort from PRO Andrew Wardrop for setting good courses in the challenging conditions and getting us through ten races. Thanks Andrew. New member Stephen Robinson joined us again today. Stephen is still coming to grips with radio sailing but managed a nice win in race nine. Well done Stephen. Patience, skill and luck were all needed today but all skippers got to the podium at some stage. Third place overall today went to Phil Turnbull who finished the day strongly. Second was taken by Stuart Dawes who peeled off two straight wins at the start of the day. (Three if you count the scratch race prior to starting.) I managed to take today’s series out and this followed a win yesterday at Puddleduck Vineyard. Some potential at last! All the best to those travelling to Devonport for the A class titles at the weekend. It looks like a really good quality fleet. There will be no club sailing this weekend in view of the A class titles. I am pretty sure however that Forcett would welcome anyone at a loose end and wishing for an IOM sail. Next Wednesday’s handicap at the dam will be for IOM’s. Button press at 11:00. John S
