Last Wednesday started with light winds and small courses so the we could get some racing completed before the summer series was started. Sailing finally got under way around 1130hrs with the scratch boats away first With David Jones taking the gun. He went on to win the bottle of wine yet again (won every one so far)with 12 points followed by Peter Sylvester on 14 points. Then followed Ray Joyce with 17 points and Rod Marshall on 19 points. Andrew Wardrop had boat problems and finished the day sailing in the handicap events. The big question, can anybody beat David Jones. In the handicap racing there were 13 starters and we had 5 different winners. At the end of days racing there could be only one winner though and Wayne Behrens won the day with 14 points followed by Peter Germein on 13 points followed by John Smith on 12 points. Then followed Geoff Mathews (which red boat am I sailing), Rob Cooney and Rob Gavin on 10 points. Phil Turnbull and Wayne Turner shared 9 points, Stuart Harris 8 points, Geoff Rainbow sailing his DF95 7 points. Dennis Barry now the owner of Peter Sylvester’s old yellow boat on 4 points. Our Commodore tackled the course without any walking supports for the first time but the length of the racing proved too much finished with1 point. It’s good to see the improvement you are making Dave. Andrew finished with 0 points. I do apologise for the lateness of the report but my computer reported in sick. Getting old like its owner. Hope to see more skippers next week. John Banks
