Sunday was a training and rehearsal day for the upcoming Nationals.
Training was conducted for the mark boat crews in the MBYC rib by Rod Jackman, the buoy anchors and lines were fine tuned and the two-way radios were tested with Wayne Behrens. Ken Dobbie had the observers in a group to discuss their role and Jeff Byerley discussed the needs of the PRO and with his assistants. Ray Joyce tested the hooters and the megaphone. Lisa Blackwood bought her wheelbarrow down which was used to transport the buoys and their concrete weights to the jetty. It was a great buzz to see the enthusiasm of all the volunteers and competitors. Then it was time for some scratch racing in the IOM Summer series. Ray Joyce was not a starter due to the time he has spent on admin for preparing for the nationals and he needed some time to start to tune up his new Marblehead. Wayne Behrens and his team set the marks at Course C for the PRO for the day Jeff Byerley with his able assistants in John Gard and Stuart Harris who took over later in the afternoon. Thanks gents. The breeze was B Rig all afternoon in SSE direction. The big guns are performing at the right time and Lisa Blackwood, Michael Hickman, John Cole-Cook and Rod Jackman basically swapped the first 4 places most of the afternoon with the occasional interloper getting a top 4 finish. Again Course Area C on the headland was a fantastic venue with fair breezes and a great view of the racing for spectators and competitors alike. The day was a great success and augers well for the Nationals with all the plans coming together. https://mysailingresults.com/results_embed.asp?eventid=282 Thanks, Chris.
