A small but keen goup of sailors turned up today. Relocated from Montrose to Bisdon Brook initially, until the storm on Friday shut the dam down, so we moved back to Montrose and a later time of 1pm for the better tide.
A breeze of a bit over 10 knots to start with, but reduced to around 3 at the end of the day. We all stuck it out on B Rigs for the day, with Jeff turning up with a new C rig to test - and was very competitive with the lower aspect sails. Unfortunately we had some attrition as the day went on, with Lisa, Andrew and John having day ending issues. Nothing major and will be sorted very quickly, but just not at the waters edge. Eleven races got completed, with just four skippers contesting the last stanza of races. Ray had a very consistent day, easily winning the day with 7 wins and just 12 points. Stuart enjoyed a good day as well, taking second place with 18 points. Kyle rounded out the top three, 4 points in arrears, on 22. Thanks to Lisa and John, for filling in the Pro duties during the day. On handicap, Phil Turnbull was the clear winner, on 4 net points, with Jeff Byerley second with 2 net points, and Ray Joyce in third on 1 net point. Wednesday is IOM Handicap, currently at the dam, but should the dam still be closed on Wednesday, the sailing will be relocated to Montrose. I'll contact Hobart Water tomorrow afternoon to see if they are closed with damage to be fixed and get an email out as soon as I know what they are prepared to tell us.
